How to Disable the Controller Speaker on PS5 (Best Method)
The PlayStation 5's DualSense controller has a built-in speaker that can be used for in-game audio effects, like a radio playing in a game or a phone call. While this can be an immersive feature, you may want to disable it if you find it distracting or prefer all audio to come through your TV or headset.
There are two easy methods to disable the controller speaker on your PS5.
Method 1: Using the Quick Menu (Best for Quick Adjustments)
This is the fastest way to turn off the controller speaker without leaving your game.
Press the PS button on your DualSense controller to open the Control Center at the bottom of the screen.
Navigate to the Sound icon (it looks like a speaker with a line through it).
A pop-up menu will appear with sliders for different audio sources. Select the Controller Speaker slider.
Move the slider all the way to the left to turn the volume down to zero.
The controller speaker is now disabled. You can use this method to quickly turn the volume back up as well.
Method 2: Through the Main Settings Menu
This method is for a more permanent adjustment and can be useful if you're not in a game.
From the PlayStation 5 home screen, go to Settings ⚙ ️ in the top-right corner.
Select Sound.
On the left-hand menu, choose Volume.
You will see a setting for Controller Speaker. Adjust the slider to the far left to completely mute the speaker.
