How to Do a Security Scan for Apps on Android Phone (Settings Tutorial)
To scan your Android phone for malware, follow these steps:
Using a Third-Party Anti-Virus App:
Download a reputable anti-malware app from the Google Play Store. Many of these apps offer a free version with basic functionality.
Install the app and open it.
Look for a Scan button within the app interface.
Tap the Scan button to initiate the malware scan.
After the scan completes, the app will inform you if any dangerous apps are detected.
Review your apps list and delete any app you do not remember installing1.
Google Play Protect:
Launch the Settings app on your Android phone.
Navigate to Security & privacy.
Tap on App security.
Select Google Play Protect.
Choose Scan to check for any harmful apps on your phone.
McAfee (Alternative Method):
Go to Settings - Battery and device care.
Select Device protection.
Tap Scan phone.
McAfee will check every app for threats, and if any are found, follow the prompts to remove them
