Well, Applied Energistics 2, AE2 for short, is a tech based Minecraft mode that focuses on engird and the transformation of energy in a unique way. One of the main features Applied Energistics 2 is known for is its storage system. This system uses a storage cell based storage system with a computer access terminal allowing you to keep all of your items in one place and making them searchable so you can see everything quickly and easily. It also adds in its own way of producing energy, custom tools, and more. Applied Energistics 2 is a great tech mod, so let’s go ahead and jump on into it.
The first part of downloading Applied Energistics 2 is actually downloading and install Forge. You can find our in-depth guide to getting Forge for Minecraft 1.16.4 in the description above. That tutorial has helped millions of people get Forge, and it will help you out as well.
After you have Forge downloaded for Minecraft 1.16.4, we can move on to learning how to download Applied Energistics 2 in Minecraft 1.16.4. You can find the official Applied Energistics 2 download link in the description above. Click that link, and it will take you to CurseForge. Then, look on the right-hand side and scroll down until you see the ‘Minecraft 1.16’ section. Under that, you will see a Applied Energistics 2 1.16.4 download. Click the purple ‘download’ button to the right of the version, and it will start downloading after a few minutes.
Once you have Applied Energistics 2 downloaded, it is time to get it installed. To do this, hit the Windows Key on your keyboard and ‘R’ at the exact same time. This will open the Run app. Type ‘%appdata%’ in the text box in this app, and hit enter. This will open up your Roaming folder. In this folder, you will see a ‘.minecraft’ folder. Open that, and you should see a ‘mods’ folder. If you don’t see a mods folder, create one!
Now, all you need to do in order to install Applied Energistics 2 in Minecraft 1.16.4 is drag-and-drop the AE2 file you downloaded into this mods folder. It’s that easy. You aren’t complete done just yet though. You still need to open up the Minecraft launcher, click the little arrow next to the Play button, select the Forge profile, and click Play. Now, Minecraft 1.16.4 will open up with Applied Energistics 2 installed!
