How to Enable Camera on MSI Laptop if Not Working (Best Method)
If your camera isn't working on your MSI laptop, it's often due to a simple software setting rather than a hardware issue. The best method to fix this is to start with the easiest solutions and then move to more technical steps.
1. Use the Keyboard Shortcut
MSI laptops have a dedicated keyboard shortcut to enable or disable the camera. This is the most common reason the camera isn't working.
Look for a key on the top row of your keyboard with a camera icon. It's often one of the "F" keys, like F4 or F6.
Hold down the Fn (Function) key, and then press the camera key simultaneously.
You should see an on-screen notification indicating that the camera has been enabled. The camera's LED indicator light (if it has one) may also turn on.
2. Check Windows Privacy Settings
Windows 11 and 10 have built-in privacy settings that can block camera access for all applications.
Go to Settings Privacy & security Camera.
Make sure that "Camera access" is turned On.
Also, ensure that "Let apps access your camera" is toggled On.
Below this, check the list to confirm that the specific app you are trying to use (e.g., Teams, Zoom, or the built-in Camera app) is allowed access.
3. Check for an MSI Software Lock
Some MSI laptops have a camera toggle within the MSI Center or Dragon Center software. If you have this software installed, check its settings.
Open the MSI Center application.
Navigate to the Features or General Settings tab.
Look for a camera setting and ensure it is enabled. Note that some recent versions of the software may have removed this feature.
