How to Restore Default Settings in Safe Mode on PS5 (Best Method)
If you're having issues with your PS5's settings or performance, restoring the default settings in Safe Mode can often help without deleting your games or saved data. This process resets all system settings back to their original factory values.
Step 1: Access Safe Mode
Make sure your PS5 is completely powered off. Do not just put it in Rest Mode.
Press and hold the power button on the front of the console.
Release the button after you hear the second beep. The first beep will sound immediately, and the second will occur about seven seconds later.
Your PS5 will now boot into Safe Mode.
Step 2: Connect the Controller
In Safe Mode, wireless communication is disabled, so you must use a cable.
Connect your DualSense controller to the console using a USB-C cable.
Press the PlayStation (PS) button on the controller to pair it.
Step 3: Restore Default Settings
On the Safe Mode screen, use the controller to navigate to Option 5: Restore Default Settings.
Select the option and confirm your choice.
The process will reset all your display, audio, network, and other system-level settings to their factory defaults. Your games, apps, and saved data will not be affected.
