How to Connect a PS5 Controller to PS5 Console (Wired or Wireless)
3Connecting a PS5 controller to your PS5 console is a straightforward process, whether you are setting it up for the first time or re-pairing it. The easiest and most reliable method is to use a wired connection.
Method 1: Wired Connection (Best for First-Time Setup)
This is the recommended method for pairing a new controller or for quickly reconnecting a controller that has been used on another console.
Turn on your PS5 console.
Use a USB-C cable (the one included with the PS5 is ideal) to connect the controller to one of the USB ports on the console.
Press the PlayStation (PS) button in the center of the controller.
The controller will automatically sync with the console, and the light bar will turn a solid color. Once this is complete, you can unplug the USB cable and use the controller wirelessly.
Method 2: Wireless Pairing (for Additional Controllers)
If you already have a working controller connected to the PS5, you can use it to pair a new controller wirelessly.
Using your active controller, navigate to Settings Accessories General Bluetooth Accessories.
On the controller you want to pair, press and hold the Create button (left of the touchpad) and the PS button at the same time.
Continue holding until the light bar on the new controller starts flashing a rapid blue. This means it is in pairing mode.
On your PS5 screen, the new controller will appear under "Accessories Found." Use your existing controller to select it.
The new controller will then be paired and ready to use.
