How to Remove Thumbsticks on Dualsense Edge PS5 Controller (Best Method)
The most significant feature of the DualSense Edge controller is the ability to easily remove and replace the entire thumbstick module. This is the "best method" for dealing with issues like stick drift, as it allows for a quick, tool-free replacement.
Step 1: Remove the Faceplate
The first step is to remove the white faceplate to expose the internal components.
Turn the controller over so you are looking at the back.
Locate the RELEASE latch, which is a small, rectangular button situated below the L2 and R2 triggers.
Use your finger or a fingernail to slide the latch from left to right. The faceplate will pop up slightly.
Gently lift the faceplate off the controller and set it aside.
Step 2: Release the Thumbstick Module
Once the faceplate is removed, you will see a silver metal lever next to the thumbstick.
Identify the release lever directly above the thumbstick you want to remove.
Gently lift the lever all the way up. This unlocks the module from its slot.
The thumbstick module should now be loose. Simply slide it straight out of its housing.
Step 3: Insert the New Thumbstick Module
To install a new module, simply reverse the process.
Slide the new thumbstick module into the empty slot, ensuring it is properly aligned with the grooves.
Once it is in place, push the release lever back down until you hear a secure click.
Finally, re-align the faceplate and press it back onto the controller until it clicks into place.
