How to Rebuild the Database on your PS5 and FIX Corrupted Data (Best Method)
Rebuilding the database on your PS5 is a powerful troubleshooting step that can fix corrupted data, improve performance, and resolve issues like a disorganized home screen. The process is safe and will not delete your games or saved data.
The best method is to access the "Safe Mode" menu on your PS5.
Step 1: Access Safe Mode
Completely turn off your PS5. Do not put it in Rest Mode.
Once the power light is off, press and hold the power button on the front of the console.
Continue holding the power button until you hear a second beep (the first beep will sound immediately, and the second will follow about seven seconds later).
Release the power button. Your PS5 will now boot into Safe Mode.
Step 2: Connect Your Controller
In Safe Mode, Bluetooth is disabled, so you must use a cable.
Connect your PS5 DualSense controller to the console using a USB-C cable that is capable of data transfer.
Press the PlayStation (PS) button on the controller to activate it.
Step 3: Rebuild the Database
On the Safe Mode screen, use the controller to navigate down to Option 6: Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
Select "Rebuild Database".
A warning will appear stating that the process may take a few hours. Select "OK" to start the process.
