How to Fix Controller Not Working on PS5 Games (Easy Tutorial)
First, check the basics. If it’s wireless, ensure the battery isn’t dead—press the PS button and look at the battery icon on-screen. If it’s low, plug it into the PS5 with a USB-C cable and charge it for 15-30 minutes. Try playing wired by keeping it plugged in; if that works, the battery or wireless connection might be the issue.
Next, reset the controller. Flip it over, find the small hole near the Sony logo on the back, and use a paperclip or thin tool to press and hold the reset button inside for 5 seconds. Release it, then plug the controller into the PS5 with the USB-C cable, press the PS button, and wait for the light bar to flash and pair. Test it in a game after.
If it’s still not responding, check for connection problems. When using it wirelessly, move closer to the PS5, within 10-20 feet, and avoid obstacles like walls or electronics such as routers or microwaves. Too many Bluetooth devices nearby can interfere, so turn off any you’re not using. To re-sync, go to Settings, then Accessories, then Controllers, then Bluetooth Devices, select your DualSense, and reconnect it.
