How to Fix DNS Network Issues on your PS5 Pro (Connection Settings)
First, check if the issue is isolated to your PS5 Pro. Test your internet connection on another device, like a phone or laptop, using the same network. If those devices connect fine, the problem is likely with your console’s settings. If everything’s down, it could be your router or internet service provider, so restart your modem and router by unplugging them for about 30 seconds before plugging them back in. This often clears up network hiccups.
Assuming the issue is with your PS5 Pro, start by restarting the console fully—not just putting it in Rest Mode. Go to Settings, System, Power, Turn Off PS5, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. This can resolve temporary glitches.
Next, head to the network settings to tweak the DNS configuration, which is often the culprit. From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings, Network, Settings, Set Up Internet Connection. Select your connection, Wi-Fi or LAN if you’re using an Ethernet cable. If you’re on Wi-Fi, highlight your network, press the Options button on your controller, and choose Advanced
Settings.
For DNS Settings, switch from Automatic to Manual. Now, enter a public DNS server—Google’s Primary 8.8.8.8, Secondary 8.8.4.4 or Cloudflare’s Primary 1.1.1.1, Secondary 1.0.0.1 are reliable choices. These are often faster and more stable than your ISP’s default DNS. Hit OK, save the settings, and test the connection via Settings, Network, Connection Status, Test Internet Connection. If it connects and the speeds look decent, you’re likely good to go.
