2Stopping Automatic Game and Software Updates on Your PS5 Pro
1. Disable Automatic System Software Updates
Go to Settings: From the home screen, select the gear icon in the top-right corner.
Navigate to System: Select System -System Software - System Software Update and Settings.
Turn Off Auto-Download and Install:
Set Download Update Files Automatically to Off. This stops the PS5 Pro from fetching system updates in the background.
Set Install Update Files Automatically to Off. This prevents installation during rest mode or when powered on.
Result: You’ll need to manually check for system updates via this menu when desired.
2. Disable Automatic Game and App Updates
Go to Saved Data and Game/App Settings: From Settings, select Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
Turn Off Auto-Download and Install:
Select Automatic Updates.
Set Auto-Download to Off. This stops the PS5 Pro from downloading game/app updates automatically.
Set Auto-Install in Rest Mode to Off. This prevents updates from installing when the console is in rest mode.
Result: Games and apps won’t update unless you trigger it manually (see below for how).
