How to Turn on Theft Protection LOCK on Samsung Phone
1Steps to Enable Theft Protection Lock on a Samsung Phone
Open the Settings App:
Tap the Settings app (gear icon) on your Samsung phone’s home screen or app drawer.
Navigate to Theft Protection Settings:
There are two possible paths, depending on your One UI version:
Option 1 (Newer One UI, e.g., 6.0 or 7.0):
Tap Security and Privacy.
Select Device Unlock or Lost Device Protection.
Tap Theft Protection.
Option 2 (Older One UI or Google Services):
Tap Google.
Select All Services.
Scroll to the Personal & Device Safety section and tap Theft Protection.
Enable Theft Detection Lock:
In the Theft Protection menu, find Theft Detection Lock.
Toggle it On. A confirmation pop-up may appear; tap Turn On to confirm.
This feature uses AI and sensors to detect sudden movements (e.g., someone snatching your phone and running) and locks the screen automatically.
Enable Offline Device Lock (Optional but Recommended):
In the same Theft Protection menu, find Offline Device Lock.
Toggle it On and confirm by tapping Turn On.
This locks your phone after a short period of being offline (e.g., if a thief enables Airplane Mode or removes the SIM). It activates twice in 24 hours to avoid overuse.
Set Up Remote Lock (Optional but Recommended):
In the Theft Protection menu, tap Remote Lock.
Toggle it On.
Verify your phone number by tapping Verify Number and enabling Automatically Verify Phone Numbers.
This allows you to lock your phone remotely by visiting android.com/lock, entering your phone number, and completing a reCAPTCHA challenge. The lock activates when the device is online (twice per 24 hours max).
Enable Find My Device (Optional for Recovery):
In the Theft Protection menu, tap Find & Erase Your Device.
Ensure Use Find My Device is toggled On.
This integrates with Google’s Find My Device (android.com/find) to locate, lock, or erase your phone remotely.
