How to Setup Fingerprint unlock for Android Phone (Security Setting)
Open the Settings App:
Tap the Settings app (gear icon) on the home screen or in the app drawer.
Navigate to Security Settings:
Look for Security & Privacy, Biometric and Security, Lock Screen, or Lock Screen and Security (exact name depends on the device).
Honor (MagicOS/EMUI): Go to Settings - Security & Privacy or Biometric & Password.
Samsung (One UI): Go to Settings - Lock Screen or Biometric and Security.
Select Fingerprint Option:
Tap Fingerprint ID, Fingerprints, or Fingerprint Unlock.
If no screen lock (PIN, password, or pattern) is set, you’ll be prompted to create one first, as fingerprint unlock requires a backup lock method.
Set Up a Backup Lock (If Needed):
Choose PIN, Password, or Pattern and follow the prompts to set it.
Confirm the backup lock by re-entering it.
Register Your Fingerprint:
Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor (location varies):
In-display sensor: Common on newer Honor (e.g., Honor 90) and Samsung (e.g., Galaxy S23) models, located on the screen.
Side-mounted sensor: Often on Honor X series or Samsung A series, built into the power button.
Rear-mounted sensor: Found on older models like Honor 20 or Samsung Galaxy A20.
Follow on-screen instructions to lift and place your finger multiple times to capture different angles.
You may be asked to adjust the finger’s position or press harder for better scanning.
