About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to download the minimap mod for Minecraft. Specifically, we show you how to get the JourneyMap mod for Minecraft. This will allow you to easily see your world from a top down view and even do things like set ways points, keep track of biomes and areas easier, and so much more.
To get started, we will need to download JourneyMap. Just search “Minecraft JourneyMap Download” and go to the CurseForge result. This is where you can download JourneyMap. Click on Files, find the version that you want for the Fabric mod loader, and click the three dots next to it and click “Download File”. JourneyMap will then begin downloading.
We also need to get the FabricAPI on CurseForge. This is required for the minimap to work, and you can find in linked above. Just make sure when downloading the Fabric API, it is for the same version as JourneyMap.
Lastly, we need to get the Fabric Mod Loader. This will allow you to actually add the map mod to Minecraft as Fabric is what links your Minecraft mods to the game. There is a link to our complete guide on getting Fabric above, but we go over the basics in the video as well. When you download Fabric, open it, and install the version that you are getting the minimap mod for. Just make Minecraft and the Minecraft Launcher are closed.
With Fabric installed, we can actually add JourneyMap to Minecraft. Open up the Minecraft Launcher and click on the “Installations” tab at the top. Make sure “Modded” is checked, and you should have a Fabric installation. Hover over this installation and click the folder icon that appears. This will open your .minecraft folder.
There should be a “mods” folder. Open that, and move JourneyMap and the Fabric API mods into this mods folder. You have now installed a minimap to Minecraft!
All you need to do now is play Minecraft using your Fabric installation. In-game, press “J” to open your fullscreen map, and you will automatically have a minimap enabled. You can go to JourneyMap settings at the bottom of the fullscreen map to customize your minimap, etc. You can also manage waypoints using the menu accessible in the fullscreen map.
With that, you now know how to download and install JourneyMap for Minecraft. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments, and if we did help you learn how to add a minimap to Minecraft, be sure give this video a thumbs up and subscribe if you haven’t already. It really helps us out, and it means a ton to me. Thank you very, very much in advance!
