About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to host a Minecraft server in 1.21.8. Why would you want a Minecraft server? Well, it will allow you to invite your friends and play Minecraft with them. This is great, and it will even work if you aren’t in the same house or on the same internet connection.

To get started, you will want to get the server.jar file. This is the software that will run your server. You can find a link in the description above or Google “Minecraft Server Download” to find the official download page. On that page, click “minecraft_server_1.21.8.jar” to download the file.

Next, make a new folder on your desktop that will hold your Minecraft server’s files and move the server.jar file to it. Double-click that file, and your server will attempt to start. If it doesn’t, you need to download Java and run the Jarfix. You need Java in order to start a Minecraft server.

In your folder, there should now be an eula.txt file. Open this, and if you agree to the EULA, set eula=false to eula=true and save the file. Now, when you double-click the server.jar, your server will start!

At this point, your friends can’t join your server, but you can. I recommend testing thing at this point to make sure you aren’t going to run into any issues, like lag, before your friends even join. Open Minecraft, and add server with the server address being “localhost”.

As long as your Minecraft server has been started, you will be able to double-click and join the server. Make sure there are no apparent issue, and if all seems good, you can move on to letting your friends join your Minecraft server.

To do this, you will need to port forward. We have a complete guide on doing this, but specifically, you will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. After doing this, your friends will be able to join your server using your public IP address. After that, your server is complete!

Congratulations! You now know how to make a Minecraft server in 1.21.8! If you have any questions, let us know in the comments and we will try our best to help you out.
