How to Get All Sound coming through Headset & Not TV on PS5 Console
To get all sound, including game audio and party chat, coming through your headset and not the TV on your PS5, here’s what to do.
Start by connecting your headset. If it’s wired, plug it into the 3.5mm jack on your DualSense controller or a USB port on the console, depending on your headset. If it’s wireless, pair it following the manufacturer’s instructions, typically via a USB dongle or through Settings, Accessories, General, Bluetooth Accessories.
Next, go to the PS5’s Settings menu. Select Sound, then Audio Output. Set the Output Device to your headset, which might show as Headphones (Controller) for a wired connection to the controller, or the specific name of your USB or wireless headset. This routes all audio to the headset instead of the TV.
While in Audio Output, scroll to Output to Headphones and select All Audio. This ensures both game sound and chat come through the headset, overriding any split to the TV.
For the microphone, go to Settings, Sound, then Microphone. Set the Input Device to your headset’s mic. Test it by selecting Adjust Microphone Level and speaking to confirm the input bar moves, ensuring party chat works.
If you’re in a party, press the PS button for the quick menu, select Party, then Voice Chat Settings, and verify the Output Destination is set to Headset.
This keeps chat audio consistent with the rest.
Check your headset’s volume using the controller’s quick menu under Sound, adjusting the slider if it’s too low. Also, ensure the TV isn’t overriding the output by muting its speakers manually or lowering its volume.
