How to Get ALL SOUND coming through TV Speaker on your PS5 Console (Easy Tutorial)
5To get all sound, including game audio and party chat, coming through your TV speakers instead of a headset on your PS5, follow these steps.
First, ensure no headset is actively connected. If you have a wired headset plugged into the DualSense controller or a USB headset connected to the console, unplug it.
For a wireless headset, disconnect it by going to Settings, Accessories, General, Bluetooth Accessories, selecting your headset, and choosing Disconnect or Remove Device.
Next, go to the PS5’s Settings menu. Select Sound, then Audio Output. Set the Output Device to your TV or AV receiver, typically listed as HDMI Device (TV) or something similar depending on your setup. This directs all audio to the TV speakers.
If a headset was previously connected to the controller, go to Audio Output, scroll to Output to Headphones, and make sure it’s set to Off or greyed out since no headset is detected.
This ensures audio isn’t still routed there.
For party chat, the PS5 defaults voice output to the same device as game audio when no headset is connected, but confirm this. Press the PS button for the quick menu, select Party, then Voice Chat Settings, and check that Output Destination aligns with the TV speakers, usually automatic when no headset is present.
Since you want all sound through the TV, the microphone input isn’t critical, but if you’re using the controller’s built-in mic for chat, go to Settings, Sound, Microphone, and set Input Device to Microphone on Controller. Test it under Adjust Microphone Level to ensure it picks up your voice.
Turn up your TV’s volume and make sure it’s not muted. Test it by launching a game and joining a party. All audio, from explosions to your friends’ voices, should come through the TV speakers.
