How to get the Shoryuken in Mega Man X2 - Retrogaming Easter Eggs #shorts
In Mega Man X2 for the SNES, there's a secret upgrade capsule that grants Mega Man X the power of the Shoryuken uppercut; a powerful move that originates from the Street Fighter series.
The Shoryuken can only be performed at full health, but can absolutely destroy bosses (usually in one hit if you connect properly). In this short episode of Retrogaming Easter Eggs, I will show you how to get the Shoryuken in Mega Man X2.
First, you will need to collect all other upgrades in the game. You will need to defeat the eight robot masters, collect all eight heart tanks, collect all four sub tanks, and get the armor upgrade, the buster upgrade, the legs upgrade, and the helmet upgrade.
Then head to Sigma Fortress level 3 (aka X-hunter Stage 3). On this level you will find a ladder that is slightly out of reach. Lure an enemy from the left, then blast it with the Crystal Hunter weapon to create a platform. Stand on top of this platform and you can reach the wall just under the ladder. Kick from the wall, and grab the ladder and head on up.
Make sure you remain at full health until you find the capsule, because it won't appear if you're damaged. Use midair dashes to hug the walls hanging from the ceiling and carefully navigate through this spiky corridor.
Toward the end, you will need to charge the S. Burner weapon for a really difficult jump. Jump to the right and use a midair dash to the right, then drop down slightly and release the S. Burner charge to the left, and you should be able to reach the platform with the extra life.
Now simply hug the left wall as you fall down this chasm. Eventually you'll find a section where you can travel through the wall to find a hidden upgrade capsule. Jump inside this capsule and Dr. Light will outfit Mega Man X with the Shoryuken ability.
To perform the Shoryuken, you must be at full health. Then slide your thumb from Forward to Down to Forward then hit shoot. The command is just like it is in Street Fighter.
Note that your password will not save the Shoruyken upgrade, so if you enter your final password, you'll need to execute this method to find the Dragon Punch all over again.
