About this video: Joining a Minecraft server is super easy, so let’s make things quick and easy.
First things first, you need get the IP address of the server you want to join. Minecraft IP addresses come in two forms - raw IPs and domain names.
Raw IPs are just numbers, and they are in a format such as 83.56.812.24:24467. While not the easiest to remember, these IP addresses will work perfectly for the server that you want to join. On top of that, you will most commonly get an IP address like this from a server host such as SimpleGameHosting or if you friend is just hosting a server on their computer.
Domain name IP addresses are now common for public servers, and they will be something like [play.example.com](http://play.example.com). They are super easy to remember, but domain name IPs do take longer to setup.
Luckily, both types of Minecraft server IPs are joined in the exact same way. To join a multiplayer server in Minecraft, click on “Multiplayer” from the Minecraft main menu. The Multiplayer menu will appear.
In this menu, click on the “Add Server” button at the bottom. This will open a menu where you can add a server.
For the ”Server Name”, you can enter anything you want. This is just for you to remember what server it is.
For the “Address”, enter in the IP address for the Minecraft server that you found earlier.
Click the “Done” button at the bottom to save the server in Minecraft. It will now appear on your server list.
Double click the server in the server list, and you will join it!
