About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to make a Fabric server in Minecraft. This will allow you to play Fabric mods on a Minecraft server with your friends. We cover everything in this video from how to setup a Fabric Minecraft server to how to add mods to your Fabric server to even how to join a Fabric server and start playing Minecraft with your friends. Let’s get started!
First things first, we will want to download the Fabric Installer. This will allow us to get the Fabric server files required to get the server up and running. There is a link to download Fabric in the description above. This will take you to our in-depth guide for downloading and install Fabric locally. This is important as your friends will need to do this in order to join your server.
On this page, click the “Download Fabric” button to go to the Fabric download page. On this page, click the “Download Universal Jar” link, and Fabric will start downloading.
Create a new “Fabric Minecraft Server” folder on your desktop. Next, open up the Fabric Installer file you downloaded with Java. From there, click on the “Server” tab at the top of the installer.
Click the three dots next to “Launcher Location” and select Fabric Minecraft Server folder you created. Click the “Install” button, and the Fabric server files will begin downloading into the folder you selected. Once it is finished, a menu will appear where you want to click “Download Server Jar” and “Generate”.
Open your Fabric Minecraft Server folder, and you will see a bunch of different files and folders inclduing a “start.bat” file. Double-click this file, and your modded Fabric server will attempt to start. It will, however, fail.
Now, you will have an eula.txt file. Open this file, and change “eula=false” to “eula=true” assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA. Save the file, and double-click the start.bat file again. Your Fabric Minecraft server will now start.
However, how do you add mods to your Fabric server? Well, first, you will need to download Fabric mods for the version of Minecraft that you made your Fabric server for.
With your Fabric mods downloaded, open up your server’s folder and there will be a “mods” folder. Move any mods you want to add to your server into this “mods” folder. You and any one who joins your server will also need every mod that is on the server in your local mods folder as well. This is one of the downsides of Fabric mods on a server.
After that, you will probably want your friends to join your server. Well, in order for your friends to join, you will to port forward. There is a link in the description above to our complete port forwarding guide. Once you have port forwarded, your friends will be able to join via your public IP.
