Discord offers several ways to mute people, with the easiest being to right click on their name and choose to mute. The standard mute will only mute the user for you, with everyone else still being able to hear the muted person. An alternative for muting a user is to right click on their name or profile, and lower their user volume to zero. Adjusting the user volume will allow you to make their volume quieter or louder. Dropping the user volume to zero will inevitably mute the user completely so they can’t be heard by you anymore.

While in a Discord voice channel a user can be server muted. A server mute will prevent the member from being able to talk in any voice channel. When a user has been server muted no one will be able to hear them.
