How to Place PS5 into Rest Mode with Controller or Button (Best Method)
Putting your PS5 into Rest Mode is a great way to save power while still allowing the console to download updates, charge controllers, and keep games suspended so you can jump back into them quickly. There are two main ways to do this: with the controller and with the physical button on the console itself.
Method 1: Using the DualSense Controller (Best Method)
This is the most common and convenient way to put your PS5 into Rest Mode.
Press the PlayStation (PS) button on your controller. This will bring up the Control Center at the bottom of the screen.
Scroll all the way to the right of the Control Center menu to find the Power icon (it looks like a circle with a line through the top).
Select the Power icon.
A new menu will pop up with three options: Enter Rest Mode, Turn Off PS5, and Restart PS5.
Select Enter Rest Mode.
The console's light bar will turn from white to a slowly pulsing orange, indicating that it has successfully entered Rest Mode.
Method 2: Using the Physical Power Button on the PS5
If you don't have your controller nearby, you can use the physical button on the console.
Locate the power button on your PS5 console.
Disc Edition: The power button is the bottom, thin, pill-shaped button on the glossy black front of the console. The top button is the eject button.
Digital Edition: The power button is the only physical button on the glossy black front.
Press the power button once. Do not press and hold it.
The console will enter Rest Mode after a single, quick press. The console's light bar will turn to a slowly pulsing orange.
