About this video: If you want to know exactly how to record Fortnite with a facecam, this is the video for you! I go over everything that you need to know about making Fortnite videos with a facecam. I even show you some awesome facecams and microphones that you can use for recording Fortnite! Thus, let go ahead and jump on into how you can make Fortnite videos for free on your PC!
First and foremost, we need to download OBS. OBS or Open Broadcaster Software is a completely free recording program, and you can find the download link the description above. After you have OBS downloaded, it is installed like any other program, and OBS will automatically open after you have it installed.
Once you do have OBS installed, you will see an 'auto-configuration wizard' appear. Select that you will be recording and not streaming Fortnite, and then, OBS will automatically setup the best specs for recording on your PC. After it has done this, you can click the 'settings' button in the bottom right of OBS and change your microphone input, file output type, a few other things that we cover in the video.
Now, we need to open up Fortnite. This is so we can set our screen resolution for recording. After you have Fortnite open, select 'Battle Royal' and then click the settings tab in the top right. Fortnite's video settings will open. Here, we want to change from fullscreen mode to windowed mode. This will make Fortnite into a Window on your PC allowing you to open OBS up while the game is open. You'll also need to change Fortnite to the resolution you will be recording at. In this case of this PC, that is going to be 1080P.
Once you have your video settings changed in Fortnite, you need to open OBS up. You then want to add a new source and select 'game capture'. Next, you will need to change OBS to select 'a specific window'. Then, choose Fortnite as the windowed app you want to capture. After that, you are going to be good to go!
At this point, you can click 'start recording', and you will be recording a Fortnite video. However, if you want to add a facecam, you will need to add a new recording source and select 'video capture device'. Then, choose your webcam as that video capture device, set its resolution, and move it to where you want on screen.
