How to Scan for Wifi Hotspots from Phone using PS5 Settings (Best Method)
To connect your PS5 to a Wi-Fi hotspot from your phone, you don't use your phone to "scan" for the PS5. Instead, you use the PS5's network settings to scan for Wi-Fi networks, and your phone's hotspot will appear as one of those networks.
Here is the best method to connect your PS5 to a phone's Wi-Fi hotspot:
Step 1: Enable the Mobile Hotspot on Your Phone
First, you need to turn on the personal hotspot feature on your smartphone (iPhone or Android).
On iPhone: Go to Settings Personal Hotspot and toggle it on. You can also customize your Wi-Fi password in this menu.
On Android: Go to Settings Network & Internet Hotspot & tethering Wi-Fi hotspot. Turn it on and set a password.
Make a note of the hotspot's network name and password, as you'll need them in the next step.
Step 2: Scan for Wi-Fi Networks on Your PS5
Now, on your PS5, you will find and connect to the hotspot you just created.
From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon in the top-right corner).
Navigate to Network.
On the left-hand menu, select Settings.
Select Set Up Internet Connection.
Your PS5 will automatically scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Find your phone's hotspot from the list (it will have the name you noted in Step 1) and select it.
You will be prompted to enter the password for the hotspot. Use the virtual keyboard to enter the password you set up on your phone.
Select Done and then OK.
