How to Start PS5 into Safe Mode to Fix Issues (Best Method)
Safe Mode on the PS5 is a powerful troubleshooting tool that allows you to fix a variety of issues, from display problems to corrupted data. It works by starting the console with only the most basic functions, bypassing any software or settings that may be causing a problem.
Here is the best method to start your PS5 in Safe Mode:
Step 1: Power Off the PS5
First, you need to ensure your PS5 is completely powered down.
If your console is responsive, navigate to the Power menu and select "Turn Off PS5."
If the console is frozen or you're experiencing a black screen, press and hold the power button on the console itself until you hear two beeps. The first beep will sound immediately, and the second one will sound about seven seconds later. The console's indicator light will flash and then turn off, indicating it is fully shut down.
Step 2: Enter Safe Mode
Once the console is completely off:
Press and hold the power button on the PS5 again.
You will hear a single beep when you first press it. Keep holding the button.
After about seven seconds, you will hear a second beep. Release the power button after this second beep.
The PS5 should now boot into Safe Mode.
Step 3: Connect Your Controller
The Safe Mode menu will appear on your TV screen.
To navigate this menu, you must connect your DualSense controller to the PS5 using a USB cable. Wireless functionality is disabled in Safe Mode.
Once the controller is connected, press the PlayStation button to begin navigating the menu.
