How to Transfer Videos from PS4 to Phone or PC with USB Drive
You can transfer videos from your PS4 to a phone or PC using a USB drive as an intermediary. The PS4's captured video clips are usually in MP4 format (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC), which is widely compatible.
Here's how to do it:
1. Prepare Your USB Drive
Before you begin, ensure your USB drive is formatted correctly for the PS4 to recognize it.
Supported File Systems: Your USB drive must be formatted as FAT32 or, preferably, exFAT.
exFAT is recommended because FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit, which can be an issue for longer video clips from your PS4.
How to Format (on PC):
Plug your USB drive into your PC.
Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
Right-click on your USB drive and select "Format."
Under "File system," choose "exFAT" (or FAT32 if exFAT isn't available or your drive is small).
Check "Quick Format" and click "Start." Confirm any warnings.
2. Copy Videos from PS4 to USB Drive
Insert the USB drive into one of the USB ports on the front of your PS4.
From the PS4 home screen, go to "Capture Gallery."
Select the game or application folder that contains the video clips you want to transfer.
Highlight the video clip(s) you wish to copy.
Press the OPTIONS button on your controller.
From the side menu that appears, select "Copy to USB Storage Device."
Select the specific video clips you want to copy (you can select multiple).
Select "Copy" and then "OK" to confirm.
Wait for the transfer to complete. A notification will appear when it's done.
Safely remove the USB drive from your PS4. There's no explicit "eject" option, but once the copy notification appears, it's safe to pull it out.
Note: The PS4 will create a folder structure on your USB drive: PS4 SHARE Video Clips [Game Title] [Video File].
3. Transfer Videos from USB Drive to PC
Plug the USB drive into an available USB port on your PC.
Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
Navigate to your USB drive. You'll find your videos in the PS4 SHARE Video Clips folder, organized by game title.
Copy the video files from the USB drive to your desired location on your PC (e.g., your "Videos" folder, an external hard drive). You can drag and drop, or use copy/paste.
