How to Copy Videos & Screenshots to USB on PS4 & Transfer to PC
To copy video clips and screenshots from your PS4 to a USB drive and then transfer them to a PC, you'll use the PS4's "Capture Gallery" and ensure your USB drive is correctly formatted.
1. Prepare Your USB Drive 💾
Before you begin, your USB drive must be formatted correctly for your PS4 to recognize it.
Recommended Format: exFAT. This is preferred over FAT32 because FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit, which can be an issue for larger video clips.
Capacity: Ensure the USB drive has enough free space.
How to Format (on PC):
Plug your USB drive into your PC.
Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
Right-click on your USB drive and select "Format."
Under "File system," choose "exFAT."
Check "Quick Format" and click "Start." Confirm any warnings.
How to Format (on PS4): You can also format a USB drive directly on your PS4.
Plug the USB drive into your PS4.
Go to Settings Devices USB Storage Devices.
Select your USB drive.
Choose "Format as exFAT."
WARNING: This will erase all data on the drive. Back up any important files first!
