How to Turn on PS5 Console & TV At Same Time & Switch Input (Best Method)
To enable your PS5 and TV to turn on at the same time and automatically switch to the correct HDMI input, you need to use a feature called HDMI Device Link on the PS5. This works in conjunction with your TV's own HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) feature.
Step 1: Enable HDMI Device Link on Your PS5
From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon ⚙ ️ in the top-right corner).
Navigate down and select System.
On the left-hand menu, select HDMI.
Make sure the option "Enable HDMI Device Link" is turned on.
You will see another option called "One-Touch Play." Make sure this is also turned on. "One-Touch Play" is the specific setting that allows your PS5 to turn on a connected TV and switch the input automatically when you turn on the PS5.
Step 2: Enable HDMI-CEC on Your TV
The PS5's HDMI Device Link feature requires your TV to have its own version of HDMI-CEC enabled. TV manufacturers often give this feature a different name, so you'll need to check your TV's settings.
Common names for HDMI-CEC on popular TV brands:
Samsung: Anynet+
LG: Simplink
Sony: BRAVIA Sync
Vizio: CEC
Hisense: HDMI Control
TCL: T-Link
You will typically find this setting in your TV's General Settings, Connections, or External Device Manager menu. Refer to your TV's user manual if you can't find it.
