Illusion of Gaia - Ch. 2 - Edward's Castle
0Ok, continuing on... Last time, we started this quick, quirky little action RPG, 'Illusion of Gaia'. This game appears to be about 7.5-8.5 hours, so it certainly qualifies as quick in my book. We'll hopefully finish this one up in less than twenty videos. So without further ado, let's jump right on in here
CHAPTER 2 - EDWARD'S CASTLE
So we left off still in South Cape, after we collected the three red jewels available in town. If you didn't get all three, take a moment and do that before leaving South Cape. When you're ready, leave town and choose Edward's Castle on the map.
If you remember from last chapter, the King asked us to bring him the Crystal Ring, which was supposed to be among his Will's late father's belongings. Will wasn't able to find it, but is still heading to the castle anyway. When you get there, the King will not be ready to see you yet. So we'll roam around the castle.
To progress the story, we'll need to go see Kara. Go all the way to the right. It may look like one door that is just obscured by the pillar, but it is in fact two separate doors: one heading up and one down. Behind this pillar, there's a guard. Talk to him and he'll give you Red Jewel #4.
You'll need to go to the top floor to see Kara. Afterwards, you can go see the King. The King becomes upset that you didn't bring the Crystal Ring he asked for, so he throws Will in prison. Poke around the cell for a while and eventually Kara's pig will show up with a key and a note. You'll need to equip the key in order to use it.
This prison area is not difficult, but it's the first time you'll actually be fighting. Make sure to explore everything thoroughly, as there are treasure chests here that contain Red Jewels #5 and #6. Make sure to enter any 'Dark Space' doors that pop up, as Gaia may have advice, healing, or other goodies.
Eventually, in one of these Dark Space doors, you'll see a statue that allows you to transform into 'Freedan'. In this state, you'll have a sword with a longer reach, which is also stronger as well. Also, you'll notice about halfway through, some sort of floating flower following you.
When you reach a certain point, it will tell you that you've cleared the area and transform back into Will. Now the floating flower will also transform into a girl named Lilly. She was also the flower you played Lola's Melody for earlier. It turns out your grandmother asked her to rescue you, but she will be called away.
Before you leave this room, head over to the barrels on the right-hand side. Check the right-side of the bottom barrel to get Red Jewel #7. When you proceed, you'll be back in Edward's Castle. Go get Kara and she'll prompt you to go to the cellar before leaving, to grab some food. Check the open barrel in the cellar to get a yummy roasted leg of yak.
When you leave the castle, you'll automatically head back to Will's house, which has been sacked. Will's grandparents are missing and the Jackal's calling card has been left behind. The Jackal is a hunter hired by Kara's mother. Lilly will show up to tell you that your grandparents are safe in her hometown called 'Itory Village'
You'll be given a chance to roam around South Cape one last time before leaving for Itory Village. Might as well trade in your Red Jewels and save if you want to.
