Live A Live Remake - Ch. 17 - Sundown (Wild West)
So last time, we finished up Pogo and Gori's prehistoric adventure to... get laid, apparently? At the conclusion of the story, Pogo take Beru to his room, while Gori takes his six gorilla harem to the room adjacent. Pogo is then heard making weird noises in what is the only actual text in this whole story. Apparently in the fan-made English translated version of the Japanese SNES rom, Pogo says "I love you!". So his weird noises could just be affirmations of love in his primitive language. Who knows?
Anyway, we've now done most of the heavy lifting for the main part of the game. We've completed five out of the seven stories and the remaining two are relatively quick ones. Let's jump into the Wild West era...
CHAPTER 17 - SUNDOWN (WILD WEST)
There's very little actual fighting in this video and the era is more story-centric in general. Luckily, you just flip on the auto-progress and it changes from game to movie. This is a very nice looking era, visually. I don't understand why they couldn't make the sprites just slightly bigger. They look so small in full-screen environments. But anyway, oh yeah the game...
The story opens to a dusty, gritty town called 'Success'. The town sheriff walks into a saloon to hang up a wanted poster. Our protagonist, 'Sundown' is the wanted person. Dead or Alive for $5,000. The story will change to show a scene between Sundown and a bounty hunter named Mad Dog. The two will face off in battle.
This battle is insanely easy, but to finish it quick, simply line up diagonally and use 'Hollow Shot'. Mad Dog will attack with Single Shot, which will cause you to counter. Now just use any attack you wish and you should win. Sundown chooses to not kill Mad Dog, instead he shoots his horse, which then runs off. He plans to leave Mad Dog stranded in the desert.
In the next scene, Sundown arrives in Success and heads to the saloon. You'll gain control of Sundown at this point, before talking tot he barkeep, grab the item behind the bar. After minutes later, a bandit will enter the bar and start causing trouble. He will offer you some milk. If you choose to drink, he'll simply keep giving you more milk until you send it back.
Eventually a battle will start between Sundown and the bandit. Here, simply use 'Single Shot'. You're already lined up and everything. The bandit should die in just one hit. Everyone is impressed by Sundown. When the sheriff arrives, they continue to sing his praises until Mad Dog arrives.
Mad Dog will challenge you to another duel outside to settle things. However, just watch the scene. There are two bandits hiding near where Sundown and Mad Dog. At the last moment, they shoot the bandits instead of each other. The bandits are all part of the 'Crazy Bunch' gang.
Since we've now killed a couple of their members, they'll be coming to seek revenge. In the next scene when you're back in the saloon, the radar will instruct you to talk to everyone except Mad Dog. Once you've spoken to everyone, it then instructs you to speak to Mad Dog.
When you talk to Mad Dog, it will begin to set in motion the next part of this quest, which is a timed mission. When you speak to Mad Dog, the timer will start and he'll tell you it's a good time to save, in case everything goes sideways. Well, it's even better to save NOW before you speak to Mad Dog, that way the timer isn't even started yet.
The next chapter might carry us to the end of the Wild West chapter. We'll see...
