A dark and tragic second act for our protagonist, Oersted. After assembling a worthy party, they failed to take down the Lord of Dark, winning a battle only against a minor minion. Hasshe dies. Streibough dies. Oersted escapes with the priest Uranus and are received by a sympathetic king at home. Oersted wakes in the middle of the night to find the Lord of Dark sitting upon the king's throne. He manages to strike him down, but alas!

Through some cruel fate, the Lord of Dark has switched himself with the king. Now Oersted, having been accused of killing the king, has been banished... What's going to happen now?

CHAPTER 22 - THE LORD OF DARK (MIDDLE AGES)

This chapter concludes the 'Middle Ages' era. Once you're kicked out of the castle, you'll have an opportunity to do a little level grinding. You'll now face castle soldiers during random encounters, so you'll level up quickly at first. I leveled Oersted to level 13 and sailed through this fairly easily. Just make sure to not go speak with the people in Fugalia until you're done training.

If you go right back to the castle, they'll just kick you out again. In order to progress the story, you'll have to go to Fugalia and speak with the family that praised you earlier. Your reputation is now ruined. If you head back to the castle, they'll grab you and throw you in jail.

In the jail, you'll be in the cell next to Uranus. Apparently, he's been tortured and questioned because of you. He uses his last bit of magic to unlock your cell and then promptly dies. Our goal now is to head back to Archon Roost. It's an annoying trek back, but we'll head there.

Here, we'll face four mini-boss battles before facing off against the final boss for this era. You'll face one each time you pass through one of those lit-up doors. Here are some quick notes for each fight.

1) Claustrophobia

Not hard at all. I used Heavenly Strike about a handful of times.

2) Scotophobia

Use Heavenly Strike and Dragonsoul from far away, then Prismatic Whirl when up close. It strangely does a lot of damage. Alternatively, you could use Windbite.

3) Acrophobia

This one is a series of monsters with one lead. If you beat the lead (the one with the flag) the rest die. The other demons can be a challenge though, if they all time their attacks to hit one after another. The move 'Crushing Blow' is pretty strong against the demons. You could use it to pluck off one or two, before going after the blob.

4) Hygrophobia

This one uses an attack called 'Sweet Nothings' which is not only very strong, but might also put you to sleep. Use whatever you can. Distance attacks like Heavenly Strike, Shardfall and Dragonsoul. Up close attacks Windbite, Crushing Blow and Prismatic Whirl. Anything that shows up as 'Vulnerable'. Heal when needed.

Now you'll finally reach the chamber where everything previously went wrong. Here, you'll discover that our ultimate big bad is... Streibough! He didn't die and instead became evil. So now, we fight!

BOSS BATTLE - STREIBOUGH

Streibough has more or less the same attacks he had before, when he was part of our party. Take your time and heal when needed. Here, I got a little lucky. I was really low in HP and planned to heal, but ended up countering and killing the boss.

If I hadn't though, he might've had time to attack again and I could've potentially died. These counters can be more bad than good sometimes. Anyway, we've beaten Streibough. Now try to enjoy the overly dark ending...
