We take our in progress mission and plan a landing in the water. We then time accelerate to the burn point, double check everything, and perform the burn. This sets up our re-entry, which goes well. It almost goes too well as we land in the water just off of the coast of Kerbal Space Center. We want to land in the water to complete two contracts that we have.

We splash down and run those tests, and recover the ship. We don't have enough science to unlock anything else yet, so we pick up a few more contracts and start building a new rocket to complete them. These include testing the 'skipper' engine in flight, and the smaller LV-1 and 24-77 engines and a hydraulic manifold once in orbit.

We launch this ship with solid rockets, attempting to get it over 6600 meters for the skipper engine test, however, we are too heavy, only making it to 4000 meters before the solid boosters run out. So we attempt to switch to the skipper engines that that point, but they fail to start. We quickly ditch them in hopes that the over-building of the ship will still allow us to get into orbit. The Jeb's expert piloting skills, the ship does make it into an orbit that allows us to fulfill the other contracts. After we completed the other contracts, Jeb safely returned the ship to the surface, but was far from KSC, so only 16% of the value of the ship was recovered.

While not a total disaster, this mission recovered very little of it's cost, although the contracts did provide enough science to unlock two more items on the tech tree. Analysis of the launch video determined that the 1 to 3 adapters used on the ship do not allow fuel flow, and so the engines weren't getting any fuel.
