More Factorio
0Factorio is a game in development that is all about automation.
I made a few videos about it about a year ago, and I decided to check in on it to see how progress on the game is going.
In Factorio, you start off having just landed on a desolate planet and must prepare defenses for colony ships from hostile aliens. You start off manually mining coal, iron and copper, but you quickly build machines to do the mining for you, and conveyor belts to more the material around to robot arms that load and unload furnaces for you. With some research, you gain the ability to make assembly machines that will automatically craft things for you, like the gears and circuits needed to make more assembly machines, or weapons and ammo to defend against the aliens. You can research steam and electric power so everything doesn't have to be run on coal, and you eventually unlock higher and higher techs such as armor, laser turrets, trains for fast item transport, and robots to more items around and help build your base, all while attempting to compete the rocked defense that will protect the colony ships.
There graphics have been updated a bit and are in the process of being completely refreshed. The have been more items added to the game, including a complete oil industry that wasn't there the last time I played. They have also added a complete set of robots that automate construction and deconstruction of parts of your factory. Additionally there are scenario packs that extend the game, such as attempting to build the smallest factory to make a certain number of specific items in a limited time (you can take as long as you want to build the factory, but it will only run for a limited time (say 10 minutes) to produce the items), or a mode where you have to solve belt routing problems in a limited space.
