Kid Chameleon High Scores - Woods of Despair II (23,330 Points) [WR]
This is the first level in which we find the notorious Robots and UFOs. As expected, we'll be needing Skycutter's invulnerability to get past them. Surprisingly, it is actually impossible to bring Skycutter into this level, even this late in the game, so we're going to have to perform helmet reset glitch in order to be able to start the level as him. Once that's out of the way, the race to the finish begins!
First, as Skycutter, you want to head straight out of the start until landing on the bridge, where you will want to immediately flip up to the ceiling to avoid a Robot. Shortly after, there will then be a UFO in you way which you'll have to jump under again. Land on the bridge afterwards, and use a round of invulnerability right before seeing the last Robot on that bridge appear on-screen. To get down to the next level, you're going to have to jump from the bridge into the entrance gap down to the next level. If done correctly, you should fall to the bottom of that chamber really fast.
Here's where it gets tricky. We need three rounds of invulnerability in order to do this level as fast as possible without getting hit. Luckily it is possible to do this without losing any time. Head left from the very right side of the level you are at now, go through the Robot (invulnerability still active), and flip up to the bridge ceiling. Head to the left and a bunch of drill blocks will come up, even though you invulnerability is STILL active. There is a prize block between these drill blocks that you want to bust open, which contains 10 diamonds. Immediately afterwards, there's a set of three prize blocks. The two on the ends have diamonds and the one in the middle has a clock. Spam the jump button when going over these so that you collect the clock and at least one diamond. If ideal circumstances are achieved, you should have collected the time clock by the critical time of 5:48, and also have 40 diamonds, good for two more rounds of invulnerability.
Head back to the right until the rows of iron blocks end. Flip down onto the bridge below and head left. Use invulnerability sometime during this step. The first random prize block you come up to on the ceiling will contain a clock, so collect that at the ideal time of 8:44.
Keep going to the right for a couple of seconds until you come up to some evanescent blocks. There will be a UFO and Robots, but your second invulnerability round is still active. Jump up to the blocks, triggering as few of them as possible, which will allow you to fall through them as soon as possible. I triggered three on the first row and two in every subsequent row, which is pretty much the minimum for this section in RTA. After falling through all the blocks, don't fall to the bottom chamber, but go right into the middle chamber. Use the last invulnerability round somewhere after entering, as you'll be zooming past three robots and a UFO during it's usage. At the end of the passageway, duck beneath a low ceiling, and immediately after exiting from the low-ceiling platform, flip upside-down. Continuing to head right will land you on a prize block, so flip right-side up so that your head bangs into this block. If done correctly, you should simply fall to the platform containing the flag and capture it at 8:33.
And that's how to get the highest score in Woods of Despair II. You may be wondering at this point why I make my descriptions so long and detailed, but that's just so that if there's ANY ambiguous tricks at all in the level, they'll be explained thoroughly. Hopefully I make all these descriptions as clear as possible so that everyone will be able to understand all the tricks, strats, and be able to challenge me at these records if they so desire! :)
