Late-Game Minecraft 201 :: Plans for a New Bridge
1At the south of the village, we provide more connectivity by preparing to build a new bridge! We move away a house that is too close to the coast so we have space for the bridge, and then we mark out the position of the future bridge with some placeholder stone blocks!
While flying around, we notice a bunch of oak leaves connected to a birch tree that look out of place! It was probably from a large oak tree that we had chopped down to build the wall. We remove the oak leaves before continuing to look around!
We make a small tweak to one of the village paths in the west before flying over to the site of the new bridge! We take down a lamppost before noticing that a village house is quite close by as well. At our storage chests, we store away some spare blocks before proceeding to move the house!
This is the second time we ever had to move a house in the plains village! We also work on the path leading up to those two houses by the coast, making the bend smoother and digging away at the hill beside the path. We raise the land that is between the two houses, so that the house we are working on remains at the same height after it is moved!
Slowly and systematically, we break the blocks of the old house and move them 2 blocks towards the north! As it turns to dark, the owner of the house returns home to sleep in his bed, which is now right beside a big gap in the structure!
It seems like the villager does not notice a thing! Anyway, we continue with the construction in the morning. The owner returns with a neighbour and an iron golem to see the construction, but the iron golem gets in the way. How annoying! We have to push the golem out of the way as we are placing blocks.
The chest in the house also poses a challenge as it is not so easily moved! In the end, we decide to build a new chest and bring over all the items from the old one. We keep the items in the exact same position as in the old chest, so no one can tell the difference!
When we are done with the moving of the house, another day is almost ending! We fill in the grass at the front porch of the house before sleeping in our white bed. The next morning, we extend the village path towards the coast, so it will link up with the future bridge!
With some stone blocks from our storage chests, we build a rough outline of the new bridge. I don't think we will be using stone as the material for the final bridge however! It is just a temporary guide to help us with the alignment and the construction of the bridge.
We want to try using polished andesite for the bridge as it looks more blocky, giving the bridge a more sturdy appearance! We don't have much andesite in our chests though. It's time to return to the mountain base! We can also get more lanterns since we ran out of those last episode.
We make a detour to our world's spawn point to pick up some raw chicken and feathers before proceeding to the mountain base. There, we trade with our villagers, buying andesite, glass and lanterns! The experience from trading also mends our tools and Elytra which is quite nice!
After trading, it is already too late to continue with the bridge construction! We stock on on rockets and iron at the storage room before sleeping for the night. Then, we fly up to the stone platform between the mountains and the plains village before ending the episode!
