Working on the exterior of our new base, we add in the ceiling for the second floor! We experiment with a polished diorite roof as well, but it does not really go well with the deepslate! Instead we increase the height of the first floor to make the house look slightly more imposing!

First, we get some wool from our sheep! Since we have lots of emeralds, we also buy some items from the wandering trader who is persistently peddling his wares. The next morning, we plant a orange tulip in the moss block garden, and plant the sea pickles in the pond of axolotls!

For more plant life, we use some bone meal to grow seagrass, and plant some kelp in the pond too. Then, we craft some polished diorite for the second floor of the base! We hang lanterns below the diorite, just like on the first floor.

We craft some deepslate tiles which look darker than the polished variant! They have a unique texture as well! The tiles form a beam that goes across the two deepslate pillars, over the second floor balcony. We take a few steps back to see if it looks good or not!

Finally, we add in some windows to the facade that we have built! We also complete the ceiling of the second floor balcony with some polished andesite. We fly above the ocean to see what the current design looks like from far away!

Afterwards, we pick up our map and view the base from a nearby island, as well as from the top of our spruce tree! So far, the design looks alright from different angles. We sleep for the night before trying out a roof of polished diorite!

The first design we try is a tall roof that changes two blocks in height for every one block going across! Unfortunately, it appears to be too large for our current design. We try another roof that slants at 45 degrees, but we feel that this makes the house look too uniform!

We harvest some carrots and potatoes while thinking of a solution! Also, diorite may not be the best material for a roof as it looks too noisy! We dismantle the diorite roof and forget about the roof design for now. Instead, we focus our attention on the first floor!

Using the same style of building for the first floor and the second has made them a little too similar for our liking! To introduce some asymmetry in the build, we try moving the second floor up by one tile, giving the first floor a little more height than the second!

Moving the floor is a delicate operation, but it is quite straightforward! We just have to patiently break each individual block and place it a little higher. Our first floor window has to increase in height, and hence it is no longer square!

When we are done raising the height of the left side, we walk backwards and evaluate the design from a distance again! We notice one of the cut copper stairs has already started to oxidise, which is much faster than we had anticipated!

I wonder if we should wax all the copper to preserve its rich orange colour? Anyway, flying above the ocean, we look at the build again. We like the look of the floors of different heights, but now the first floor seems too rectangular!

After crafting two more cut copper blocks, we sleep for the night! We decide to shift the entire left side of the second floor upwards before taking another look. From beneath, we chop away the spruce wood floor before going up onto the balcony to place it down again!

So far, I think we are leaning towards having increased height on the first floor! We end the episode early so we can think about it before tomorrow. We must also consider that an increased height would also give us much more space for interior design later on!
