Late-Game Minecraft 223 :: Exploring Another Big Cavern
We venture into the caves that are in the plains across the river! Deep in the caves, the noises of hostile mobs echo through the walls, prompting us to dig around and find more caves! Soon we get lost inside the maze of tunnels. Eventually, we find our way out with a new zombie villager friend!
After yesterday's nighttime caving adventure, we are on our guard for any explosive green creatures! We start to store away our items and gather resources from our farms. We have just collected our copper ingots from the furnace, when we see a bee flying away from the base!
I'm not sure why it decided to leave the beehive! Since the bee seems to be heading to its doom in the ocean, we quickly pick up a flower and get it to follow us! We lead the bee back to the vicinity of the bee nest, but it still goes towards the water! How strange.
We make sure that the bee is safely home before we return to organising our items! Maybe the bees are looking for a more spacious home! We build a new beehive for them, which also lets us breed the bees. We place down a campfire under the new beehive before collecting more honeycomb.
We craft a few copper blocks, but we definitely still need a lot more for the base! We place down another double chest to store all the stone blocks that we had mined. We grow some flowers in the sheep pen and chop down the birch trees before sleeping!
The next morning, we feed the flowers to the bees to breed them! We also gather raw copper to smelt in our furnaces! It seems like each block gives an average of 5 raw copper with Fortune III.
Gathering more birch saplings, we place a tuff block back in the block palette! In fact, we move the entire block palette away from the base so we can see it better. We breed our sheep before heading to the caves! Along the way, we slay some squids for ink sacs.
At first, we head down the big hole beside the spider dungeon before remembering that it leads nowhere! We use our rockets to help us get back up before going over to a section of the caves that we have yet to explore. While lighting up the caves, we also deal with all the mobs that have spawned within!
At a three-way intersection, we find a big vein of copper ore! I did not know that copper could generate in such large amounts! Either that, or it could just be two veins joined together. We head deeper into the caves where we find a dead end, but we hear spiders and zombies all around us!
We mine some copper near the stream of water before deciding to find the source of the noises! We mine downwards but we soon realise that the noises are getting quieter. So, we mine in a different direction instead! We find some coal and try sleeping in our bed, which tells us that the monsters are nearby!
Eventually, we break into the ceiling of a new unlit cave! We are careful not to jump in immediately though, to avoid being blown up to bits by a creeper ambush! We find a few mobs here, but they are all spread out so it is easy to deal with them.
As we explore the cave, we find that it is quite big! We run around to light up the dark spots and find a sections filled with many mobs! We shoot arrows at them with our bow from a safe distance. After the cave has been cleared, we enter, but still we fear for our lives as we hear many zombies!
We suspect that the mobs are in the cave below us, so we craft some torches before carefully mining a staircase down! However, we find that we are completely alone, save for a spider! We return to the cave and mine our way up instead, finding a big chamber filled with zombies!
Fortunately, the Sweeping Edge and Knockback enchantments on our sword keep us safe! We mine out a safer route to the caves and find even more mobs. I guess that this cave may be one of the only places left for mobs to spawn near our base!
We explore the new cave while lighting it up. Apart from some copper ore and dripstone, we do not find anything notable! We place down our bed to sleep, as we prepare to leave. We get a little lost in the twisting caves though!
We find a branch that goes all the way down to lava and deepslate! Above the lava, we see more caves and dig out some stone so we can access it. Here, we find a zombie villager! As the villager follows us, we continue to look for the exit!
Following the torches seems to lead us nowhere! We begin to think that we had messed up our torches, but we soon notice a small opening in the ceiling! Relieved, we build a staircase up so our zombie villager can follow us out. We place down a bunch of torches as markers for ourselves!
I guess we should not have doubted our torch pattern! We make a small stone cage for the villager and name it before ending the episode. Now that we have two zombie villagers, it would be very easy to set up a new village next to our new base!
