PREVIOUSLY:
A day before leaving Rim Elm as an official hunter, Vahn's close friend, Mei, meets up with him at his home to take her final measurements for the Hunter's Clothes she promised to make for him.
While Vahn trains with Tetsu, the village hunters return from their hunt. During the trip however, Juno, Mei's father, was attacked by a Seru, immediately succumbing to his wounds.

While Mei mourns the death of her father, an elderly woman advises Vahn to return home to get some rest while they stay with Mei, to which he complied. That night, loud thuds can be heard from the other side of the high walls, which awakened everyone in the village. An overlord named Zeto appears out of nowhere, a beastly Seru in his disposal destroyed the gate with a giant blast, before henchmen of the Mist starts raiding the village.

Vahn fends off some of the Seru monsters and notices that Mist does not approach the Genesis Tree, he makes his way to the tree when suddenly, a voice that only speaks with his mind is heard. A dormant Ra-Seru named Meta, awakens from her sleep and offers a union between human and Ra-Seru to eliminate the Mist and save the villagers, Vahn agrees unhesitatingly.

Heeding Meta's advice, everyone gathers around the Genesis Tree. With the powers of their prayers, the tree is restored to its former glory, repelling the Village's Mist and killing the attacking Seru in the process.

The Village Elder thanks Vahn for saving the village, and asks him to look for Mei's mother, who used to work at Biron Monastery, but have lost contact with them since the arrival of the Mist. Vahn agrees to take on the task, and sets off on his trip to Biron Monastery.
