PREVIOUSLY:
While Vahn is on his way to Mt. Rikuroa, in the nearby Snowdrift Cave lives a feral child named Noa, who is raised by a wolf named Terra. Terra trains Noa for self-defense, and while they scavenge for food, a massive earthquake occurs which rips a hole in the cave, causing the Mist to flow inside.

Through the hole, Noa and Terra manage to escape the cave and make their way to Mt. Rikuroa. They traverse their way to the top, defeating the guardian in the process, while barely escaping the collapsing caverns.

Terra reveals to Noa that she is actually a Ra-Seru who originated in Mt. Rikuroa's Genesis Tree. Years ago, Terra was awakened by the cry of Noa when she was a baby, and in order to protect and raise her, the Ra-Seru had to have a physical form, hence she attached herself to a nearby wolf. Now that Noa is big enough, Terra can use the powers of the Genesis Tree at the mountain summit to transfer herself onto Noa.

The duo continues their journey to the summit, but before they could approach the Genesis Tree, Zeto appears, with a new but similarly vicious Seru. Zeto reveals that it was him that caused the earthquake at Snowdrift Cave, and after mocking Terra for siding with the humans, he teleports away, leaving the Flying Seru to finish them off.
