Lego Disney Castle Face Off! (Which One Is Better? Which One Do I Prefer?)
16In todays video we compare Lego Disney Castles! Its the 2016 set #71040 versus the 2023 set #43222, one with 4,080 and the newer 4,837 pieces. From the top I make it clear this is an up close review style video and then we change camera angles and get into it. I start off with three points from the instruction books. First in 2016 the base is made from less components then the 2023, Second, the interior base structure is more open in the 2016 versus the newer. Lastly, I point out the part differences that make some crucial design parts of the build work, the 2023 definitely using a more refined technique that uses less parts. I do the review from side to side showing the difference in colors of the castle throughout the video. We then go into the movie nod differences in the sets. These nods are and their differences are: Princess and the Frog, 2016 has a Crown with a frog on a lily pad outside, the 2023 has nothing. The Little Mermaid, 2016 has an entire kitchen, and in 2023 they have the thingamabob (fork) in the candle at the bottom left. Sleeping Beauty with the spinning wheel in the spire, both sets do a near identical take on this, 2023 being more refined. Aladdin, 2016 was a rug on the wall with a lamp below, and in 2023 its a lamp and a rug that’s center of the castle. Also, center of the castle is Moana, in 2023 with a picture of Maui and an oar, in the 2016 version this isn’t there. Tangled, 2016 has a brush with scissors in a chest, but the 2023 has a night sky painting and art supplies. Snow White with the apple and the Mirror in the spire, are very close in both sets. Fantasia, is centered in 2016 with the Sorcerer Mickey hat and mop and bucket, with 2023 its just a mop and bucket hidden in the castle walls. Cinderella, in 2016 is hidden in the castle and is a brick built slipper, 2023 has a tile in the top of the spire of the slipper. Mulan is featured with a sword and snake in the left side lower area in the 2023 and not the 2016. Also in this area is a nod to The Sword in Stone with a sword in an anvil also not in the 2016. Lastly Pocahontas with leaves blowing around a tree on the lower right side of the castle in the 2023 that’s not featured in the 2016 as well. The 2016 does have an archery set for Brave, where the 2023 does not. The minifigures of the 2016 set are Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Donald & Daisy Duck, and Tinkerbell. With the 2023 you get the couples of Snow White & Prince Florian, Cinderella & Prince Charming, Tiana & Prince Naveen, and Repunzel & Flynn Rider. Last few notes is the 2023 is 3 inches taller, 7 inches wider, and 1 inch deeper then the 2016. The 2016 has a lot of features I like more, and at the end of all this.
