Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.

In this episode we continue marching towards completion of the messaging popup. But before we can complete it, our message container component needed a major rehaul to be able to handle replies. To do this we literally removed all of the html template code from the message container and started over. We extracted the colored messages, and the subtitle into their own independent components, and reassembled the message container in a way that reduced the duplicated code and cleaned up the component considerably. After completing the refactor in the component, we had to update the CSS to match, and tested everything out to make sure we had the same functionality as before.
