Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.

In this episode we primarily focus on some odds and ends that need to be completed in order to get started working on the profile page. To start out we go through all of the different locations where we can navigate to the users profile and make sure that it navigates successfully. Then we clear out the profile page to make way for a complete overhaul as we work on it over the coming episodes. Next we hop onto the backend to add some new fields to the ApplicationUser, and update the UserController mapping for the profile endpoint. We struggle updating the data sql for a little while, before wrapping up back in the frontend making sure we are fetching all of the new user data successfully.
