Lets Build Twitter From the Ground Up: Episode 231 || Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and React
18Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.
In this episode we embark on a journey of epic proportions as we have decided to complete refactor our create post logic, to overall simplify it from some lessons learned and to also make it easier for us to send images with the posts. We start out be creating a new PostSlice in our redux folder, along with adding that new slice to our store. Then we hop into the FeedPostCreator to start our refactoring. We clean up the FeedPostCreator, and setup a couple new pieces of state to simplify some styling logic. Once we have setup the use of the new slice inside of the FeedPostCreator, we switch our focus to the CreatePostTextArea component, where we make a typo and have to debug an infinite loop problem. Once that problem is fixed, we are able to start creating and typing inside of a post using out new PostSlice.
