Let’s Play BG2 EE #97: When Quests go Gong
Edwin really should’ve worded his wish more carefully. Yes, the quest we’re on is indeed like no other we’ve done in the game so far, but a fetch quest isn’t my idea of action-packed adventure and excitement. Fetch quests rank only slightly above escort quests in their tedium, though the despair that the party is proclaiming as we stubbornly continue to seek the missing gong is the silver lining to a very brooding storm cloud.
Some people may protest that the quest has its merits, that it’s ideal for a low level party and gets you access to the druid grove without doing anything in Trademeet. While the second point is indeed true, the first is invalidated by you needing to cast Limited Wish to get this quest. You also need the mercenaries in Delosar’s Inn to be alive as well, something that might not be the case if you pick fights with everyone you come across. At least this adventure is far from forgettable, a tale that will be remembered by the entire party and never spoken about to anyone ever.
This is one exploit that nobody will mind being omitted from the songs of travelling parts, that’s for sure.
