6Well there goes a good run. In the game's defense I was moving awfully fast for a mouse-clicker, but I still feel cheated out of that playthrough. Oh well! At least we get pretty far in the next one.
Learning the "mating patterns" against certain pieces is critical, as it is in Chess itself. Given the right movement and terrain, you should be able to reliably take certain pieces, especially when you factor in the rather deterministic AI (varying only bw uniformly-random splits). It certainly makes the game go a lot smoother.
