Though we’re still technically in the tutorial phase of the game, we still have quite a bit of freedom when it comes to how we tackle the various obstacles in our way. Though the hints we’re getting are rather heavy-handed and when it comes to things concerning the inventory we don’t have much say on what we do, the game is giving us relative freedom when it comes to taking out the enemies we encounter. We can go in guns blazing if we wish or take them out sneakily, sparing them if we like or killing them as we see fit. With the correct augmentations, you could tailor Ben’s skills to your style of play, enhancing the abilities you use the most or covering up the weaknesses you’re not so good at.

That said, there’s something else which is helping us overcome the enemy placements before us and that’s the enemy AI. To say that it’s not great at the moment is somewhat of an understatement, though it could get smarter and more dangerous as we move on. Considering the platform this game originally released on however, it’s safe to assume that we have a substantial advantage due to controlling the game with keyboard and mouse, compounded by the very limited detection ranges the enemies have and the amount of effort they exert in trying to find you.

It’s still early days so things can get a lot more difficult, but until then we’ll be sneakily dispatching the ones who’re guarding our target without them being any the wiser. We are as a ghost, drifting through like we were never there… that or someone who can crouch in vents.
