Though Ben Saxon’s journey from being recruited to leaving the Tyrants was pretty short, remember that everything leading up to JC going to Honk Kong takes place in a single day. I can only imagine that it was the augmentations that allowed him to do so much without getting tired. To Ben’s credit however, he realised that he was being played a lot faster then JC did in terms of missions undertaken, so I’d say that it’s even between the two of them. The events of Deus Ex are a long time in the future however, a time when the illuminati no longer hold the world in its palm like it does in The Fall. Their reach is vast, grip suffocating, with few places to hide and fewer enemies that can stand up to them.

If that wasn’t bad enough for Ben and Anna, the shortage of the drug that augmented people need not to have their augs go haywire is in drastically short supply and them being in hiding only makes that problem worse. They can’t rely on official channels for a supply and after so long in seclusion, I can’t imagine what they have left will last much longer. The illuminati need only wait for them to act in desperation for their time to strike, holding all the cards in the deck save one; the joker.

And just what does the joker signify in this instance? All will become clear in time, or will it? Such is the nature of conspiracies, even what you think is plain as day is shrouded in shadow.
