We’re not quite done with the tutorial yet, but there’s not much more for us to learn. (If I'll remember and use all that the game has taught me is another matter, of course.) Ben hasn’t yet used his active augmentations, though we’ve seen the passive ones; the infolink has seen extensive use throughout the mission, plus the one that allowed him to land safely from being pushed out of the plane. Much like the takedowns, the active augmentations are powered by our energy meters, the method by the which the game prevents us from using powerful abilities constantly. One of the bars will replenish on its own even if empty but the others require filling using items, providing purpose to all the energy bars we’ve been finding around. There are many augmentation paths to choose and I know it’ll take me a while to come up with one I’m happy to go down, so for now I’ll be saving my upgrade points.

The end of the tutorial is likely going to be when we find out target and it’s safe to assume that once we reach him, the conspiracies will start showing themselves even more obviously than the plot has already done so. Even if the game hadn’t told us something was fishy about the Tyrants, my first instinct wouldn’t be to trust them; the past games in the series have taught me to take very little at face value and the super suspicious military organisation Ben found himself working with are no exception to that rule. Do we trust what they say about our target and if not, what will we do about that? How will the Tyrants react to our doubts?

Deus Ex has been a series about choices from the very beginning and this one is no different, though what impact our decisions will make throughout the game remains to be determined. They’re often decisions between two morally grey choices, though good/evil options do exist at times. I can’t say if I’ll make the right choices for making the game easier, but I’ll try my best to make the right choices that reflect Ben’s personality, what little I know of it. We’ll see if that makes things harder for me in the long run.
