Let's Play God of War II [PCSX2] | Chapter 8: Atlas | Wings of Icarus | Atlas Quake
Welcome back to God of War II, an action-adventure game developed by Sony for the PlayStation 2. The game features Kratos, who had slain Ares to become the new God of War, being subject to an act of betrayal at the hands of Zeus, the King of the Olympians, himself. Now, Kratos entails the aid of the Titans to embark on a mission of vengeance against the King of all Gods. The game primarily revolves around hacking and slashing through a variety of enemies while taking down gargantuan bosses and also features platforming as well as puzzle sections. We are playing this game on the PCSX2, which is an emulator for the Sony PlayStation 2.
Kratos moved along the path in front of him to find a dilapidated section of the island with broken bridges teetering on the edge of falling into complete ruin. There, he found the staff of destiny and a statue of Lahkesis which he used to slow down time so that he could get a running start at swinging to the end of the Lowlands without falling to his death.
After a wild ride amidst crumbling structures, he finally found himself in a cave that emerged out into a great Chasm with the Palace and the spire he had been seeking tantalisingly close, but with no way to get across the gap.
Just then, Icarus, maddened by his fate, arrived and prevented Kratos from going any further. At that moment, the fallen God of War decided to use Icarus's Wings to get across the Chasm himself and wrestled him for it as they fell down into the bowels of the earth.
Finally, when Kratos had the wings all to himself, he stared at the face of the mighty titan Atlas, sentenced to hold the entire Earth aloft on his shoulders as a punishment by the Gods. He used Icarus's wings to find the first way inside the Titan and avoided many obstacles made of lava and fought off a moving stone minotaur to finally reach the hand that blocked the way out.
But in order to move the hand, Kratos had to destroy his chains. And in doing so, Atlas became aware of his transgression and threatened to crush him between his fingers.
Kratos, recognising his defeat, decided to plead his case with Atlas and told him that he was on a mission to defeat the Gods. Atlas then told him the tale of how the Gods used the Blade of Olympus to achieve victory against the Titans and reign upon Earth and its humans.
He then blessed Kratos with the last of his powers to give him the Atlas Quake before he hoisted him back through the earth and helped him get across the Chasm. But as for the rest, Kratos had to figure it out himself.
