Let's Play Malcolm's Revenge Extra #01: The Kyrandian Penal System
Malcolm has proved his innocence in the murder of William and saved Kyrandia from the tyrannical rule of the pirates. Never mind the fact that Malcolm was a tyrant himself after the death of the king and brought the pirates to Kyrandia in the first place, the day has been saved and the loose ends have been tied up… mostly. We never did find out who the person was that gifted William the cursed knife in the first place, nor are we ever going to find out what with the series having not had a fourth instalment in twenty four years. Whatever future intrigues the series had planned they never came to be and likely never will, which is a shame.
But even with the game over, Malcolm isn’t going to get the rest he so desperately wants. As I played the game I noted just how many different ways there are to progress at certain points; there are items I never used, places that had next to no importance for me and areas that seemed to have something more to them that I just couldn’t figure out. There’s so much more depth to this game that has yet to be explored and it’s time we did that, starting with the very beginning.
There’s many different ways to escape Kyrandia, some more obvious than others. I ended up stumbling across the most difficult to find of them and in doing so without being caught once, missed a character that turned out to be very important to the narrative of the story. It’s time to remedy that by escaping Kyrandia with the easiest method to come across, getting caught and perhaps escaping said captivity. We’re going to do all that and in style as well, as much style as a man in a jester’s outfit can have anyway.
And so begins the extras section of Kyrandia 3: Malcolm’s Revenge. Who knows, perhaps all the things I missed the first time round may change my opinion of the game, for better or for worse.
